Abstract

Public health professionals have noted that anxiety in young adults has been on the rise. In a parallel development, the rise of dystopian literature has dominated the young adult genre. This editorial, written from the perspective of two literacy educators, suggests prioritizing utopian stories, in place of their dystopian counterparts, can provide young readers an opportunity to imagine a more positive, hopeful future for themselves and their world.
