Abstract

Este artículo analiza Sunakay (2021), escrita por Meritxell Martí e ilustrada por Xavier Salomó, como un ejemplo de la complejidad y profundidad temática de la literatura infantil contemporánea. Desde una perspectiva ecocrítica, se examina cómo el álbum ilustrado presenta la emergencia medioambiental no como una amenaza futura, sino como una realidad irreversible. Al mismo tiempo, el artículo destaca cómo Sunakay permite abordar cuestiones como la empatía, el sacrificio y la reflexión crítica sobre el consumismo. Estos hechos hacen que deba considerarse Sunakay como un valioso recurso educativo para los jóvenes lectores.

This article analyses Sunakay (2021), written by Meritxell Martí and illustrated by Xavier Salomó, as an example of the complexity and thematic depth of contemporary children’s literature. From an ecocritical perspective, it examines how the picture book presents environmental emergency not as a future threat, but as an actual reality. At the same time, the article highlights how Sunakay enables the exploration of issues such as empathy, sacrifice, and critical reflection on consumerism. These aspects support the consideration of Sunakay as a valuable educational resource for young readers.
