Taking the Temperature on OER: Minnesota State Students' Attitudes Towards Open Resources

Abstract
In this session, the presenter will explain findings from a statewide survey on Open Educational Resources. The study was conducted with students from Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. The presenter will discuss the findings and compare them to a more extensive study that was conducted on the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus. In addition to discussing the study, the presenter will define OER, provide examples of adoption resources, and identify three ways participants can create their own OER. An interactive discussion will also be included.

Dr. Carrie Miller is an instructional designer with Minnesota State University, Mankato. Dr. Miller has been teaching both online and face-to-face since 2002 in both languages and educational technology. She is the co-chair of the Special Interest Group on Instructional Technologies and Learning Spaces and is a vocal advocate for the adoption of Open Educational Resources.
