Abstract

In this reflection, I consider the concept of the traditional Ojibwe teachings known as the “The Great Law” or Seven Grandfather Teachings. By allowing students to interact with these concepts, both with and without deeper cultural contexts, they are asked to consider how applying the values of truth, humility, respect, courage, honesty, love, and wisdom to their relationship to the natural world could enhance their sense of ownership in taking better care of Niimama Akii (Our Mother Earth).
