Abstract
Students participate in an urban design project whereby they design a city for the future. It is a gamified simulation where cities (classes) compete for scarce resources and funding. Through this unit students learn about climate action and how public and private systems work. The speculative fiction, “City of Choice” and city future planning documents are used prior to the simulation to help students understand how imagination and creativity are essential for designing any city.
