Abstract
Music-color synesthesia is a phenomenon in which the sensation of color is experienced when perceiving music. This paper chronicles the development of the concept of music-color synesthesia, from theorized connections between color and music to the establishment of the study of synesthesia as a science. It also details the leading theories on the cause of synesthesia itself and various forms of expression of music-color synesthesia. A case study by the author on her own experience with music-color synesthesia is included, proposing ideas for further areas of research in this field.
