Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The content is the authors' original scholarship.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The article submission file is in Microsoft Word, with endnotes linked to the text.
- Captions (with thumbnail images) are placed in a separate document, not the manuscript document.
- Text and endnotes are properly formatted, according to the journal's Submission Guidelines and Style Sheet (link under Author Guidelines, below).
- Quotations and foreign-language phrases and titles are accurately transcribed, including special characters and accent marks.
- Names and titles of artworks as given in the text, notes, and captions match.
Feature Article
To ensure an anonymous review, please do not include the author name or institutional affiliation in any of the attached files. Please also scrub files of all identifying information. In Word, follow the folder path file/properties/advanced properties/summary to remove document author information.

- 250-word abstract
- Article Text
- Caption List with Thumbnail Images (example)
Optional attachment:
- Cover Letter (you may also include an informal message to the editors in the appropriate field)
Images: Those submitting Feature Articles SHOULD NOT include separate high-resolution image files with their initial submission. If the article is accepted for publication, we will then ask authors to consult our Information for Authors: Images and Multimedia document to acquire images and any necessary permissions.
In the Round

Colloquium

Research Note

Images: If your article has already been accepted for publication, you may also attach any Images or Multimedia (as separate files) and any applicable Copyright Permissions. Please see our Information for Authors: Images and Multimedia document for guidelines and specifications. If your article has NOT yet been accepted for publication, please do not send individual image files yet; they may be uploaded at a later date.
Book Review
Book Review submissions are by invitation only. If you would like to propose a review, please start by contacting the appropriate section editor: https://editions.lib.umn.edu/panorama/submissions/.
Book review submissions should include publication information formatted according to Panorama's Submission Guidelines and Style Sheet. Book review editors may have additional guidelines which will be shared with contributors individually.
Exhibition Review
Exhibition Review submissions are by invitation only. If you would like to propose a review, please start by contacting the appropriate section editor: https://editions.lib.umn.edu/panorama/submissions/.
Exhibition review submissions should include exhibition information formatted according to Panorama's Submission Guidelines and Style Sheet.

This means that authors retain the copyright to their work and grants users non-exclusive rights to share, copy, and/or redistribute the essay in any medium or format. Users may also adapt and/or build upon the article, as long as the original author and source are cited, and the use is for noncommercial purposes.
