Abstract

In 2015, compliance with Section 504 and 508 came to the forefront when the National Association for the Deaf sued Harvard and MIT for lack of compliance to ADA standards. Section 508 standards are also currently under revision for release in 2016. These two facts combined mean that providers of online education should be cognizant of the law and its requirements and develop a proactive plan to address them. This presentation reviews the history and examines the future of ADA compliance and what it means for online education.
