Abstract

Since its launch in April, 2012, the University of Minnesota's Open Textbook Library (OTL) has been the most comprehensive source for faculty to find quality open textbooks. Traffic on the OTL has increased exponentially over the past three years, as faculty from nearly every country in the world have used it to find affordable, flexible, openly licensed textbooks. In 2015, a much improved Open Textbook Library was released with many improvements that have made the textbooks in the collection more sustainable, more professionally formatted, and more easily adaptable by faculty. David Ernst is graduate faculty and the Chief Information Officer in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota. David is the Executive Director of the Open Textbook Network, which works to improve higher education through the advancement of open textbooks.
