Abstract

Creating a sense of community and instructor presence is important in all courses. In an online or blended course, it can come with some challenges. This session, will introduce ways to use video paired with learning management tools to engage students and increase instructor presence. This will provide participants an introduction to key areas for online delivery and provide practical strategies that educators can implement right away.

Mary O'Brien

Mary O'Brien is an Instructional Design Specialist in the Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) department at Winona State University (WSU). In her role, Mary supports the development and design of online and blended programs. She also facilitates the WeTeach program; an interactive, collaborative, professional development course offered by WSU to assist instructors teaching online or blended courses. This program helps instructors design high quality online learning experiences by developing their own design and delivery skills.
