Abstract

Seeing through Water: The Impact of Our Decisions is a unit developed to bring awareness of climate change to eighth-grade middle school students in the English Language Arts classroom. The topic of water was isolated in regard to climate change because of the interdisciplinary connections naturally occurring at the middle school level.   Several standards cross-curricular can be identified.  Ultimately, students are asked to justify how the actions of others impact the decisions they make (right or wrong).  In this critical time of climate crisis, students will be presented with accurate information while making connections to their lives to become climate literate and take appropriate, thoughtful actions.
